Baby loss under 24 weeks

Bereavement services can offer support and advice should you need it.  We can organise a blessing, assist in making memories, and we can also offer guidance when it comes to making funeral arrangements following your wishes.

We can organise a blessing assist in making memories and we can also help make funeral arrangements following your wishes.  The registration of baby must be completed before a baby can be buried or cremated if he/she was born alive and then died or was a stillborn after the 24th week of pregnancy.

Unexpected death of a child

Following the death of a child who has died unexpectedly at A&E or the children’s ward, it will be necessary for the Consultant Paediatrician and the police to visit the child’s home. This is an essential part of the process and we recognise this is distressing.

All sudden, unexpected deaths have to be reported to the Coroner by law.  To establish the cause of death the Coroner will order a post mortem.
