Summer Fairs
Each year the Staff Benefits Team host a handful of fabulous Summer Fairs for Trust staff, with the biggest fairs being located at York and Scarborough Hospitals. The fairs showcase a variety of stalls where you can meet our partners, treat yourself at one of the tasty food and drink outlets, listen to some amazing live music and get one of our Trust famous free fair bags* filled with amazing goodies!
The Staff Benefits team also visit Bridlington, Malton, Selby and Hull Hospitals to host similar, smaller scale events to help staff learn more about their Staff Benefits package and hand out some more amazing freebies*!
*freebies and fair bags are only available on the day of the event, handed out on a first come first served basis with limited stock available.
How to save the Staff Benefits and Wellbeing section to your home screen
iPad or iPhone
- Launch “Safari” app.
- Enter into the address field the URL of the website you want to create a shortcut to. Tap “Go.”
- Tap the icon featuring a right-pointing arrow coming out of a box along the top of the Safari window to open a drop-down menu.
- Tap “Add to Home Screen.” The Add to Home dialog box will appear, with the icon that will be used for this website on the left side of the dialog box.
- Enter the name for the shortcut using the on-screen keyboard and tap “Add.” Safari will close automatically and you will be taken to where the icon is located on your iPad’s desktop.
Android
- Launch “Chrome” app.
- Open this link.
- Tap the menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap Add to homescreen.
- You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut and then Chrome will add it to your home screen.

Hull Hospital (SHYPS)
Wednesday 17th June 2026 (11am -1pm), Building 22, 1st Floor Meeting Room
Get ready for a warm and friendly welcome in a relaxed, small‑scale setting, hosted by your Staff Benefits and Staff Health & Wellbeing teams! Come along to explore everything your Staff Benefits package has to offer and discover the wide range of support available to help you feel your best at work and beyond. Pick up a complimentary fair bag*, and enjoy a few extra freebies along the way. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for our hidden golden tickets in our fair bags, you could be one of our big prize winners!
Bridlington Hospital
Wednesday 24th June 2026 (11am -1:30pm), Dining room and outside courtyard
Enjoy a warm welcome from the Staff Benefits team, alongside a selection of our partners, including Cycle Solutions, Fleet Solutions and more. Explore a variety of stalls featuring the Staff Health and Wellbeing Team and Y&S Charity, as well as professional service providers such as The Will Guys and NHS discount partners like Classic Lodges. Take your time to visit each stand and discover the fantastic offers and support available to you. Don’t forget to pick up one of our free fair bags* and enjoy some extra goodies as you make your way around. Keep an eye out, some bags contain a hidden golden ticket, giving you the chance to win a fabulous prize! To round off your visit, use your food voucher to treat yourself to some tasty food from the restaurant at a discounted price.
Selby Hospital
Tuesday 30th June (11am -1pm), Courtyard accessible via café
Just like our Bridlington event, get ready for a fantastic experience! Enjoy a warm welcome from the Staff Benefits team as you arrive through the on-site café into the courtyard. You’ll be handed a free fair bag* in a colour of your choice, be sure to check inside, as you might find a golden ticket and win a fabulous prize! From there, make your way around our brilliant range of partners, including salary sacrifice providers Cycle Solutions and Fleet Solutions, alongside other fantastic stallholders such as the Staff Health & Wellbeing Team, Classic Lodges, and more. Discover everything your Staff Benefits package has to offer and learn about the wide range of support available to you. And when you’re ready for a break, don’t forget to use the voucher in your bag to treat yourself to a tasty treat!
Malton Hospital
Thursday 2nd June (11am -1pm), Courtyard opposite onsite dining room
The final stop in our smaller site events and just as fabulous! As you step outside, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome at the Staff Benefits desk, where you’ll receive your free fair bag*. Be sure to have a look inside… you might find one of our golden tickets, and if you do, you’ll win an amazing prize! From there, take a stroll around the courtyard and explore our fantastic range of partners and stallholders. Chat with our salary sacrifice partners, Cycle Solutions and Fleet Solutions (perfect if you’ve got any questions) then discover even more with stalls from the Staff Health & Wellbeing team, Natural Pawprints (ideal for treating your four-legged friends), and others. Don’t forget to make the most of your visit by using the voucher in your fair bag to enjoy some of the restaurant’s finest food at a discounted price.
Scarborough Hospital

Our second-to-last Summer Fair of 2026 is here—and it’s set to be a fantastic day! As you step into the marquee, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome from the Staff Benefits team and offered a free fair bag*. Be sure to take a look inside, you might discover one of our shiny golden tickets and walk away with an amazing raffle prize! You’ll also have the chance to join our Staff Lottery (or add another number if you’re already a member) and pick up a free gift. From there, explore over 25 fantastic stallholders, including partners offering NHS discounts, salary sacrifice schemes, wellbeing and support services, including the Staff Health & Wellbeing team. You’ll also find local bakers, talented crafters, and so much more. When it’s time to refuel, treat your tastebuds to something special! Enjoy delicious wood-fired pizza from Embers Pizza for just £1 a slice, or grab a drink from Mocha Me A Coffee (don’t forget to use your voucher from your fair bag for a discount!). To top it all off, we’re thrilled to have live music from Just Another Jester, performing between 11am–1pm! Trust us, you won’t want to miss this one.
York Hospital

Our final Summer Fair of 2026 and we’re going out with a bang! We’re excited to introduce a new location this year, make your way to Ellerby’s Restaurant and step outside to be greeted by the Staff Benefits team. On arrival, you’ll receive your free fair bag* (choose your favourite colour!) and don’t forget to check inside… you might uncover one of our lucky golden tickets and win an amazing raffle prize! You’ll also have the opportunity to join our Staff Lottery (or add another number if you’re already a member) and pick up a fantastic free gift.
Head into the marquee to explore 25+ stalls, all showcasing the incredible benefits available to you as an employee. Meet our salary sacrifice partners (perfect if you have questions about car leasing, Cycle to Work, or home electronics schemes) alongside a brilliant mix of local businesses offering NHS discounts and exclusive deals. You’ll also find a range of wellbeing and support services, including our very own Staff Health & Wellbeing team and a variety of local sellers and crafters (perfect for treating yourself or someone else). Frequently Asked Questions
What is 'Quiet Hour'?
Following feedback from last year, we’re pleased to introduce Quiet Hour, a dedicated time for colleagues, particularly those who are neurodiverse, to enjoy the event in a calm, low‑sensory environment before the main rush. During this period, stallholders will not actively promote or approach you, allowing you to explore at your own pace, stall holders will be happy to chat if you choose to ask questions. While Quiet Hour is designed with neurodiverse attendees in mind, it is open to everyone. We kindly ask that all visitors remain mindful of the quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.
I'm not at work on the day of the fair, will I miss out?
We understand that not everyone will be onsite during our summer fairs. We do our best to schedule them on popular days to reach as many staff as possible. If you’re not on shift that day, you’re still very welcome to attend in your own time, it’s a great opportunity to meet our partners and discover what’s on offer.
Are the summer fairs accessible?
We’ve made every effort to ensure all our fairs are as accessible as possible within the constraints of each venue. If you have any concerns or require assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by emailing yhs-tr.staffbenefits@nhs.net
Can I take a fair bag or freebies for colleagues who can’t attend?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer this. We have a limited number of fair bags and freebies available, and we can’t guarantee that every attendee will receive one. To keep things fair for those who are present, we’re not able to provide items for colleagues who aren’t attending. We appreciate this may be disappointing, but please be reassured that we run many events throughout the year with opportunities for staff to pick up goodies. We’re also always happy to share information about our partners with anyone who wasn’t able to attend but would like to find out more.
Is there a limit on pizza at the York and Scarborough fairs?
Yes. Following last year’s events where pizza ran out partway through the day, we’ve introduced a limit of one pizza per person (four slices). This is to ensure that everyone attending has the opportunity to enjoy some. To keep things fair, you won’t be able to purchase multiple pizzas on behalf of others.
Can I use my Ellerby’s voucher on another day, rather than at the fair?
No, any food and drink vouchers included in your fair bag must be used on the day of the event.
I can’t attend the fairs, can I still get a fair bag?
Unfortunately, no. We have a limited number of fair bags and freebies available, so these are distributed to attendees on a first come, first served basis. However, if you would like more information about any of the partners attending, please let us know, we’d be happy to share further details.
I’m a manager, are my employees required to attend the fair?
Attendance is not mandatory. However, as part of supporting staff wellbeing, we strongly encourage managers to give employees the opportunity to attend where possible.
These events are widely supported across the Trust, including by the Chief Executive, and offer valuable opportunities for staff to learn about the benefits, support, and services available to them.
