Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) - Rheumatology

If you need to access PIFU

If you experience a flare-up, please call 01904 726400, open 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, and explain to the team that you are experiencing a flare-up and you need to be seen.  The team will agree a suitable appointment date and time over the phone with you, within the next 28 days.

Contact us if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Persistent flare of joint symptoms that is failing to settle
  • Deterioration in your health that you feel relates to your arthritis

If you have any concerns associated with your condition, but not a flare up, you can contact the rheumatology advice line:

  • York and Selby patients please call 01904 721854
  • Scarborough, Bridlington and Malton patients please call 01723 385058

If you require urgent medical advice you should contact your GP or NHS 111, or if you are really unwell, your local emergency department (A&E).  For all other concerns, or if you are feeling unwell, your GP remains your first point of contact.

Help us keep everyone safe this winter

We’re asking everyone to please help protect our patients, visitors and employees during the winter months.

If you’re feeling unwell, please don’t visit our hospitals - even for appointments or to see loved ones, unless it’s in exceptional circumstances such as end-of-life care or maternity.

Colds, flu, Covid and norovirus (sickness and diarrhoea) can spread easily and cause serious illness in vulnerable patients.

Please only come in once you’ve been free of symptoms for at least 48 hours.

When you do visit:

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe this winter.
