Your visit

Who's who on the wards

You will meet many different staff while you are in hospital such as doctors, nurses, ward clerks, porters and healthcare assistants, for example.  So you can be sure of who they are, all our staff wear identity badges with their name on.  If you are not sure of the name of the person you need to speak to, please ask.

Staff have different uniforms, so patients and visitors can tell who’s who. The image below can help you identify some of the most common uniforms you will see during your stay.

A uniform guide poster to show who it who in our hospitals identified by the colour of their uniform, listed are colours nursing uniforms with a description of the job role underneath them

These are the staff you are likely to meet as a patient or visitor to our wards.

Visiting update

To protect our patients, staff, visitors and the community, we are again restricting visitors to all our hospitals sites so please read our latest guidance for full details before coming to our hospitals.

The decision to restrict visitors during this time has been very difficult and made only after careful consideration as we witness wider social restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in light of the highly transmissible OMICRON variant.  The guidance will be reviewed regularly.
