Caring for your Child

Your Child's Hospital Journey

Children and Young People’s Epilepsy Service (Scarborough)

We are doctors and nurses who work in the hospital who want to help you and your family/carer look after your epilepsy. We have a weekly clinic where you can talk with the consultant with a special interest in epilepsy and meet the epilepsy nurse. The consultant will help you with your medication and suggest helpful treatments. The epilepsy nurse will help you and those around you understand more about your epilepsy. This could include home visits, nursery, school and college visits.

The Service is provided at Scarborough Hospital and out in the Community. The Epilepsy Clinic is held in the Children’s Clinic on the Basement Corridor, Scarborough Hospital.

The Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in epilepsy and the Epilepsy Specialist Nurse for children and young people run the service.

Children and young people can be referred from their GP or by another paediatrician.

When you come for your clinic appointment, you will meet the clinic nurse who will check your medical notes, your weight and height. You can then either wait in the waiting room or visit the playroom. You will meet the consultant and the epilepsy specialist nurse when it is time for your appointment. Please ask questions, we want to hear from you and help you.
