Your Child's Hospital Journey
Request for help
If you have read the information and tried the strategies on our advice page, but still have concerns about a child or young person's speech, language, or communication skills, you can make a request for help.
Referrals
The service has an open referral system so anyone can refer, with parental consent.
Speech and Language UK's ages and stages provides a guide to the typical stages of speech and language development in babies, children, and young people; it can be used as a guide when considering a referral.
To refer a child or young person for Speech and Language Therapy:
- Complete the Integrated Children's Therapy Referral form.
- If feeding and swallowing difficulties are identified, please also complete this form.
After this, a speech and language therapist will consider the information that has been provided through a 'request for help' to determine the most appropriate support for you and your child. The service will then liaise with you to discuss next steps.
