About

NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP)

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity and security of patient information.

The NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) is a national NHS programme commissioned by NHS England to help NHS organisations improve the way they use information already held within their systems to support patient care, operational planning and service improvement.

For organisations using the FDP, NHS organisations remain responsible for the patient information they hold and continue to act as data controllers for their data. Patient information must be processed in accordance with UK data protection legislation, the Data Protection Act 2018, NHS information governance requirements, and applicable cyber security standards.

Palantir Technologies provides software and services as part of a consortium contracted by NHS England to deliver the FDP. Palantir does not own NHS patient data and is not permitted to use NHS data for its own purposes. Access to information is subject to contractual, technical and organisational controls, including audit logging, role-based access controls, security monitoring and governance oversight.

The Trust recognises that some members of the public have concerns about the use of health data within national NHS systems. We are committed to openness and transparency regarding how we use patient information and will continue to comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and NHS requirements.
